Brighter Later
Aside from the homage paid in the photo's title to British Folk singer Nick Drake's second album (Bryter Later, 1970), the image is a symbol of the changing season, the longer day and the coming of a bright summer in New York City - looking out from the JMZ platform to the Williamsburg Bridge.

Photographer John Lancaster documented The Poetry Brothel's Film Noir-themed event at the Back Room April 15th. Produced by The Poetry Society of New York, the Brothel is the brainchild of Stephanie Berger (The Madame) and Nicholas Adamski (a.k.a. Tennessee Pink, pictured above left). Like the Boss
Bruce Sprintsteen and the (remaining members of, tear) E Street Band played Madison Square Garden Friday, April 6. The 62-year-old crowd surfed, knee slid and dance on Roy "The Professor" Bittan's piano. See video from the show later this week on YBNY.
Lit Death Match's 6th Anniversary
Sara Benincasa, center, author of Agorafabulous!: Dispatches from My Bedroom, along with playwright and comedian Taylor Negron, right, were pitch perfect as snarky judges for the 6th Anniversary edition of Literary Death Match, a reading event founded by Todd Zuniga - currently on a world tour - at The Back Room earlier this month. Children's author Jon Scieszka rounded out the judging corps, and readers included Trip City author and illustrator Dean Haspiel, God of Animals author Aryn Kyle, National Book Critics Circle Award winner Darin Strauss and Fordham Professor Kim Dana Kupperman.
