The L.A. based boutique record label and distributor Alpha Pup launches its new monthly in New York on Saturday at the Knitting Factory, Brooklyn, featuring Gaslamp Killer, Matthewdavid and Alpha Pup founder Daddy Kev. The Alpha Pup NYC party is the New York extension of the Low End Theory movement, a worldwide club phenomenon orginated by Daddy Kev in Los Angeles.
The event launches Saturday with headliner and Low End Theory showman, The Gaslamp Killer, who takes a break on his busy world-touring schedule to set Brooklyn on fire with his manic musical selection. Leaving Records' label head Matthewdavid will also perform; known for his extensive cassette collection, this far-out producer has received massive critical acclaim for his latest album Outmind, released earlier this year on Brainfeeder. Saturday also marks the long-awaited return to the New York club stage by super-producer, Daddy Kev.
Ghostly International's Mux Mool, a New York City local, opens the night with his blend of experimental hip hop and 8-bit-influenced beats.
Alpha Pup NYC debuts at the Knitting Factory, located at 361 Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, May 28 from 12am to 4am.
